Sizing

A size is not a number.
It is your foot.

Standard sizes exist for convenience. At T H E, we go further. Whether you choose a standard UK size or submit your own measurements, every last we build is reviewed by our artisan personally — and once shaped for you, it stays on file for every commission to come.

Standard · UK Sizing

We offer UK 6 to UK 12.

Our standard sizes are built on the Lagos last by default, with the option to choose any of our five lasts. If your foot falls cleanly within a standard size and you have no specific fit concerns, this is the fastest route to your first commission.

UK Size Foot Length EU Equivalent US Equivalent
UK 6 248 mm EU 39.5 US 7
UK 7 254 mm EU 41 US 8
UK 8 260 mm EU 42 US 9
UK 9 267 mm EU 43 US 10
UK 10 273 mm EU 44.5 US 11
UK 11 279 mm EU 45.5 US 12
UK 12 286 mm EU 47 US 13
Sizes below UK 6 or above UK 12 are available only via made to measure. If you fall between two sizes, we recommend sizing up and submitting your measurements — our artisan will adjust the last accordingly.
Standard vs Made to Measure

Which is right for you?

Both routes begin with the same handcrafted process. The difference is the foundation we build on.

Standard Size
UK 6 – UK 12
  • Your foot length falls cleanly within a UK size
  • Standard width and girth with no specific fit concerns
  • Any of our five lasts available
  • Exchange policy applies for fit adjustments
Made to Measure · Our Process

Your last. Kept forever.

Made to measure at T H E is not a template adjustment. It is a last — a physical form — modified to the precise contours of your foot and filed under your name from your very first commission.

  • 01
    You submit your measurements
Length, width and girth for both feet, following our Fitting Guide. Uploaded directly with your commission — no appointment, no physical visit required.
  • 02
    Our artisan reviews personally
Every set of measurements is reviewed by hand within 48 hours. Not by a system — by the person who will make your shoes.
  • 03
Your last is modified and named
The chosen last profile is adjusted to your numbers — width, girth, instep — and filed permanently under your name in our atelier.
  • 04
    Every future commission begins here
Your second pair, your third, your tenth — all begin from the same last. You never measure again unless your feet change.
Fit Assurance · Exchange Policy

We stand behind the fit.

A handcrafted shoe on a new last may occasionally need refinement. We offer up to three exchanges to arrive at a fit that is exactly right — at no charge for the rework. The only cost borne by you is the return courier for sending the shoes back to our atelier.

Your last adjusted and
kept on file permanently
Once the fit is confirmed — whether on the first pair or the third — your last is locked and filed. Every subsequent commission arrives right, from day one. The exchange offer applies once per commission and covers fit adjustments only, not change of style or model.
Common Questions · Sizing

Fit answered.

My left and right foot are different sizes. What do I do?
Submit measurements for both feet separately. We always build to the larger foot and adjust accordingly. This is one of the most common reasons our customers choose made to measure over standard sizing — and exactly what it is designed for.
I am between two UK sizes. Which should I choose?
We recommend choosing the larger size and submitting your measurements alongside your commission. Our artisan will note the difference and adjust the last so your foot is seated correctly — neither too long nor too short in the toe box.
I have wide feet. Will a standard size work for me?
It depends on the last you choose. The Lagos last has a broader, more generous fit. The Seoul last runs narrow. If you carry significant width or girth beyond the standard, we strongly recommend made to measure — a tight vamp is the most common discomfort in leather shoes, and it is entirely avoidable.
Who pays for the return courier during an exchange?
The return courier cost — sending the shoes back to our atelier — is borne by you, the customer. Once we receive the pair, all rework, re-lasting, and re-delivery to you is carried out at no additional charge.
What happens after three exchanges if the fit is still not right?
In our experience, three exchanges have always been sufficient to arrive at a correct fit. Should an exceptional case arise, we will discuss a resolution with you directly. Our commitment to the fit does not end at a number.
Do I need to measure again for my next commission?
No. Once your last is confirmed and on file, all future commissions are built from it. You only need to re-measure if your feet have changed significantly — which we recommend reviewing every few years.
